SHENZHEN Home Women’s and Children’s Hospital planned to become a Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited hospital soon, improving medical quality to meet international high-end standards.
If it was approved, the hospital would become the country’s 8th JCI accredited medical institution, said Chen Gang, director of the hospital’s brand department.
As a member hospital of the Partners Harvard Medical International (PHMI), the hospital in Nanshan District received an evaluation inspection by PHMI expertsDuring the four-day inspection which ended Thursday, the team examined medical quality, procedural controls, hospital management and patient experience. They also made appointments with patients to solicit suggestions and opinions.
“We think that the hospital has made great achievements in enhancing quality and services,” said Betsy, one of the experts.
Unlike traditional hospitals, the Nanshan hospital offers special services. “Patients can reserve private doctors without queuing and medical staff are banned from discussing patient information in public.
“We also meet patients’ special demands and preference in food and service. This is what expatriates and high-income local residents need. We are very confident of passing the official inspection by JCI in November,” said Li Liwen, president of the hospital.
JCI is an independent, nonprofit organization, which accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Its accreditation and certification is recognized worldwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
