A YOUNG Shenzhen entrepreneur scaled the 8,844-meter Mount Oomolangma on the early morning of Friday to wish success to the Shenzhen Universiade.
Miao Ke, born in 1983, became the youngest amateur climber to reach the summit of Mt. Qomolangma from the north side this year. He was with eight other climbers from the Chinese Mountaineering Association.
Miao left Shenzhen on April 6, planning to reach the summit May 4, the 100-day countdown for the Universiade. But he had to reschedule because of unfavorable weather.
Though Miao has conquered peaks in Sichuan and Tibet, he was overwhelmed with Mt. Qomolangma.
“It was unbelievable to finish our mission in just four days,” the Daily Sunshine quoted Miao in a phone interview. At the summit, Miao and other members unveiled the Shenzhen Universiade flag.(Han Ximin)
