On February 14, a provincial group headed by Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Lin Musheng came to Shenzhen, conducting an investigation on the 26th Summer Universiade preparatory work. Deputy Secretary of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Politics and Law Committee Wang Suiming and Vice President of the Universiade Executive Committee and Director-general of the Executive Office Liang Daoxing paid a visit for company.

On behalf of the Executive Office, Liang Daoxing expressed thanks to Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government for their great attention on the Games. He noted, as this year is the sprint phase for the Games, although the preparations have been proceeding very well , there are still some problems, for example, disparate progress of venue construction, lack of minor language speaking volunteers and shortage of human resources. All these require the support of the respective provincial departments and experts. Currently, organizational structure of event command system and information system has been initially set up. The Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, the Universiade Center, the Universiade Village and the Main Media Center have been completed. The renovation of some venues as well as the construction of the temporarily – built venues is going to be finished in March. The Universiade will see more than 10,000 athletes and team officials coming to compete for 306 gold medals in altogether 24 sports, a scale exceeding all previous games.

Lin Musheng fully affirmed the Universiade preparations. He said, since the Games preparations have entered a final sprint, we should enhance the leadership, impel the coordination, perfect the working programs and implement the responsibility, trying to stage a more spectacular and successful sports gala. Referring to the experience with the Guangzhou Asian Games, Lin gave his suggestions on issues including how to build an efficient decision-making and command system as well as sketch out the working plans of some major activities like flame collecting and torch lighting and the opening and closing ceremonies. He also emphasized the importance of safeguard and security, environmental protection, food security, traffic service, personnel recruitment and funding.

In the afternoon that day, Lin came to the Universiade Village in Longgang District, the Universiade Center Main Stadium, the Event Command Center, the Main Media Center and the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center in Nanshan District, performing an inspection and listening to reports. It is definitely an innovation to build the Universiade Village inside the new campus of the Shenzhen Polytechnic, for the use of the school after the Games. It is set to pre – open on August 1 and open officially on August 4 or 6. Six provincial coordination groups have a talk with the counterpart departments of the Universiade Executive Committee to exchange opinions, and thus ensure a smooth work communication, Feb. 15.
