On the afternoon of August 2, the signing ceremony & awarding ceremony of the first 27 Universiade official hotels and officially appointed hotels was held. The ceremony is presided by Deputy Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government and Managing Deputy Director of the Executive Office Huang Guoqiang. Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee and Director-general of the Executive Office for the Universiade Liang Daoxing, Deputy Director of the Executive Office Ke Gangming, representatives from the 27 hotels, leaders from Shenzhen Public Security Bureau ( Shenzhen Fire Protection Bureau), Shenzhen Hygiene and Family Planning Commission, Shenzhen Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, and Shenzhen Market Supervision and Administration Bureau were present at the ceremony together with the guests form Shenzhen Travel Association and Shenzhen Hotel Association.

Liang Daoxing delivered a speech. Firstly he expressed his gratitude to hotels across the city for their involvement in the Universiade. He noted the high – level reception and service for a large –scale international sports event is a test to Shenzhen hotel industry, and as well a chance for the industry to upgrade the services. Liang hoped the first 27 hotels selected can be role models in the industry to display the high – level services of Shenzhen hotels, so as to deliver better services in the Universiade and make all the athletes, officials and reporters feel at home.

The selecting procedures include candidate hotel application, a field survey, and expert assessment. According to the criteria like traffic to the hotel, function facilities, service level, and safeguard and security, the Executive Office decided the final list, by asking functional units for opinions, such as Shenzhen Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Shenzhen Hygiene and Family Planning Commission, and Shenzhen Public Security (Fire Protection Bureau).

Since the Selecting work of the official hotels and officially appointed hotels kicked off last year, altogether 86 Shenzhen hotels submitted their applications to the Organizing Committee. In the first 27 hotels, there are 13 official hotels and 14 officially appointed hotels, which differ from each other in terms of customers, payment agents, and room reservation. Basically, official hotels are used to accommodate FISU officials and relative staff, referees and technical officials, distinguished guests and VIP sponsors who are invited by the Organizing Committee, while officially appointed hotels render services for people from media groups, team officials other than the originally registered, other sponsors, and delegations both home and abroad coming to watch the Games.

As told, all of the 27 hotels have come up with respective plans to prepare for the forthcoming Universiade, including external renovation, meeting room decoration, hotel room renovation, the use of environmental protection energy device, and staff service skill training and foreign language training.
