On the morning of June 9, the Universiade Executive Office and Shenzhen Public Works Bureau jointly held an expert seminar on functional distribution of athlete dorms in the Universiade Village, Meeting Room 1010 of the Executive Office. The seminar was hosted by the full – time Deputy Director of the Executive Office Liu Pingsheng, and people in charge of Shenzhen Public Works Bureau, experts from Shenzhen hotel service industry (i.e. Shenzhen Airline International Hotel Management Co., Ltd., Huaqiao Town Hotel Management Co., Ltd., and Huaqiao Town Venice Hotel Management Co., Ltd.), and experts from Shenzhen Association of Hotel and respective design institutions (i.e. China Construction International (Shenzhen) Design Consulting Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Research Institute of Building Materials, Institute of Architectural Design and Research of Shenzhen University) attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the Universiade Village Administration Department presented a three – D promotion movie of the Village, and then briefed the accommodation functional distribution of athlete dorms, its operation modes and an initial plan of the accommodation service outsourcing. After that, leaders of Shenzhen Public Works Bureau, experts from Shenzhen hotel service industry, Shenzhen Association of Hotel and respective design institutions had a discussion and then gave their opinions and suggestions on the Comprehensive Service Center in the Village, and its functional distribution including laundry service,  logistics service, as well as the operation management mode of the residential zone.

Liu Pingsheng noted, as the biggest non-competition venue of the Shenzhen Universiade, the Village is set to be an individual playing area. Incorporating functions like accommodation, catering, recreation, and leisure life, it is not only the home for athletes and team officials from various countries during the games time, but also a focus of attention of the social circles, the public and the media. Therefore, the accommodation service and management of the Village is of great importance. Learning from the good experience of the Beijing Olympic Village, the Guangzhou Asian Games Village, and the Belgrade Universiade Village, the accommodation service of the Shenzhen Universiade is planned to adopt service outsourcing, that is, athlete apartments are going to be farmed out to six hotels or hotel management companies to manage. Right now, at a time when the further functional planning and functional distribution of the Village is coming to an end, how to perfect the Village residential zone’s functions is both the needs of second – time decoration, and the solid foundation for the hotel – serviced accommodation management in the games time. For this end, it is a key factor of management in the residential zone how to work out a perfect blueprint by making full use of hardware advantages of the residential zone, so that an efficient hotel – serviced accommodation management can be realized. He hoped, through the expert seminar, accommodation functional distribution in the athlete dorms will be made clearer and with the help of experts’ advice and rich experience, an efficient and workable games – time operation plan will be tailed, so that the Universiade will acquire strong support on the Universiade Village accommodation service.
