The Universiade village will expand that eight buildings of the North Campus and the South campus will also be built for the use of the Univerisade village. After expansion, the area of construction of the Universiade village will increase from 267 thousand square meters to 446 thousand square meters.

Covering a floor area of about 926 thousand square meters and a total building area of about 586 thousand square meters, with a total investment of 2 billion 430 million yuan RMB, a new Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (the Universiade village) is being built the north of Longxiang Road and the south of Longxing Road, Longgang District. It has altogether 28 buildings such as a teaching and research building, a library, a meeting hall, a sci-tech building, an office building, student dorms, teacher and staff dorms, canteens, a comprehension service building, a service centre building, a ground track field, an outdoor playground, a gym, and a natatorium. There are four campuses of the college: the East Campus, the South Campus, the West Campus, and the North Campus. Among them, the East Campus will act as the Universiade village at the future 26th Summer Universiade, a focal point of the whole construction project. The Universiade village was originally designed to include only eight stand-alone buildings including athlete dorms, teacher dorms, a comprehension service building, with a building area of 267 thousand square meters, which accounts for only 45% of that of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology.

For the purpose of expansion, eight buildings of the North Campus and the South Campus will be also be built for the use of the Univerisade village. As a result, the area of construction of the future Universiade village will be 446 thousand square meters, accounting for 75% of the gross area of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology.

After expansion, the Universiade village is made up of three zones, including a residential zone, a running zone and an international zone. Comprised of five athlete dorms and two canteens, the residential zone specializes in providing all the athletes and officials with service of room and board. Made up of a comprehension service building, a service centre building, the running zone offers wholehearted support to all the functional centers. Consisting of office buildings, teacher and staff dorms, a library, a meeting hall, a medical center and a natatorium, the international zone supplies athletes and visitors with services of shopping, cultural experience and entertainment. During the next Universiade, the Universiade village will accommodate nearly 13 thousand athletes and officials from more than 180 countries and areas, providing them with services of accommodation, entertainment, and traffic. After the Universiade, to realize the ideal of hosting a thrifty Universiade, the Universiade village will transform for the use of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology.
