The Athlete Village for the 26th Universiade, which is designed to hold 13 thousand persons, is being under smooth construction, the main structure of Teaching & Research Building Two in its Northern Campus capped one month ahead of time. According to the Municipal Maintenance Department, due to an investment of 940 million yuan RMB, the Universiade Village has entered a critical construction period.

The reporter was told, at the critical time of the Universiade Village’s building, to ensure the punctual completion of the project, a completion countdown has been carried out, and all the builders will turned in their National Day holidays off to proceed with the project.

In accordance with the construction scheme, the steel structure of the main stadium is going to be installed by November of 2009, the main structure of every individual building is going to be topped off in January of 2010. The installation of water and power, as well as inside and outside decoration will kick off in February. The panel wall will start to be built in April, verdurization will begin in September, and all the project is planned to finish by the end of 2010.

It is said, in order to host a “thrifty” Universiade for the sake of practicing economy, the Universiade Village is in a unified planning with the new campuses of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology. The whole construction project is made up of three parts: the Northern Campus, the Southern Campus and the Eastern Campus. The Eastern Campus, which started to be built in July this year, is the seat of the Universiade Village and without a doubt the intensive part of the whole project.
