Nudnida Luangnam and Nungnadda Wannasuk helped the country to win its second gold medal and first silver Universiade medal on August,21th. Ksenia Lykina of Russia and Yoo Mi of South Korea took bronze.
“It felt so good to compete for the gold medal with best friends. I was very proud to win the gold medal. I think we two can make a very good pair and play in the doubles in future,” said Luangnam.
Wannasuk beat Chinese player Liu Chang in the quarterfinal and defeated last Universiade champion Lykina in the semifinal.
“It was very hard because of the strong competition and the hot weather. Although I lost to Nudnida Luangnam in the final, I still feel happy for Thailand and my performance at this year’s Universiade,” Wannasuk said.
