Shenzhen has decided to build a new science hall to replace the old one, which is one of the ten major tasks of the Shenzhen Municipal Government this year, and its planning and construction are required to break through.

“At present, citizens’ sound opinions are being collected and taken on the construction of the new science hall, and the best design proposal will be chosen by means of an international competition,” a person in charge of the new science hall’s preparation told the reporter. It is said, with preparatary work going on smoothly, the new Shenzhen science hall is going to be built in the near future, under the official name “Shenzhen Science & Technology Center”. Located in the south of Gaoxin District, with the investment of nearly 2 billion RMB, Shenzhen Science & Technology Center is scheduled to start next year and finish in 2013. According to its latest feasibility study report, Shenzhen Science & Technology Center will be a modern, all–around, high-level science hall and as well a landmark building in the future representing Shenzhen’s high technology.
