Sniffer dogs with their trainers at the Luohu Checkpoint yesterday. A ceremony was held yesterday to mark the introduction of eight sniffer dogs, aged 2 to 8, to detect illegal drugs and other contraband contained in luggage passing through the Luohu Checkpoint, the biggest land checkpoint on the Chinese mainland. Shenzhen is the first city in China to use the new detection system involving “humans, machines and dogs” simultaneously at its sea, land and air checkpoints. The new system was applied at Shenzhen International Airport, Fuyong Port and the city’s postal service last year.Wang Xiaok
