BANGKOK, Aug. 5, (Xinhua) -- Despite the knee injury, Thai Asiad tennis champion Danai Udomchoke is confident in winning a gold in men's singles of the 24th Universiade for the home crowd.

"I'm quite confident in this competition," said Udomchoke on Sunday at a press briefing.

The Doha Asiad gold winner was injured in his left knee during his last match. However, he said it wouldn't prevent him from claiming the title.

"I'm going to see my doctor today and I'll be fit to compete in the game," he said.

World-ranked 106, Udomchoke will meet strong rivals from South Korea, Russia, Czech Republic, Chinese Taipei and Slovenia during the games.

Udomchoke said there would be certain pressure of playing in front of the enthusiastic home crowd.

However, "they will help me win," he said.

He said he was not quite familiar with the players from China.
