On the afternoon of November 28, a commendatory meeting for Universiade leading volunteers who served the 11th National Games and a training of voluntary service theory was held at Youth League school of Shenzhen city, where sixteen volunteers working for the National Games were commended.
At the commendatory meeting, Chief of the Volunteer Department of the Executive Office Cai Yifang made a comprehensive rundown to the volunteers’ service work, and had a good opinion of those volunteers. Afterwards, Wei Le and four other volunteers were awarded the title of “Voluntary Service Star”, while Qiu Yingdan and twelve others won the title of “Excellent Volunteer”.
In October of 2009, the Executive Office chose twenty leading volunteers and sent them to Jinan and Qingdao, two competition fields of the National Games, which was the first mission out of Shenzhen since the Executive Office began to recruit leading volunteers. During the National Games, with volunteers’ spirits of “dedication, fraternity, cooperation, and progress”, the volunteers blent into the voluntary work and provided an oustanding service. There were many advanced volunteers, for example, a thoughtful young man from Jinan, called Hong Duzheng, showed his detachment and opinions in his voluntary job everyday; Hu Yinliang from Qingdao, in charge of audience serve, was good at pinpointing problems and dealing with problems, thus resolved several disputes from the audience, serving the audience with zealousness, patience and sincerity.
After the commendatory meeting, Professor Tang Jianguang, Director of Voluntary Service Research Center for the Guangzhou Asian Games, and Vice President of Guangdong Volunteers Association gave a training lesson on voluntary service theory for all the Universiade leading volunteers.
In the future, the Executive Offce is going to carry on more professional overall distance education training for leading volunteers, and provide more opportunities to impress on them the value of voluntary work.
