Chosen into Asian Games Volunteer Hall of Fame, Lin Dan challenges Bao Chunlai in Shenzhen
On the afternoon of May 23, 2010 Badminton Super League kicked off in Futian Sports Park, Shenzhen, Bayi Chivas Regal Sofa VS Hunan Kawasaki. At the short – time ceremony of entering the Hall of Fame, Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang took possession of “Letter of Appointment of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games Volunteer Hall of Fame” and “Certificate of Registration of Guangzhou Asian Games Volunteer”, from the Deputy Chief of the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee Volunteers Department and Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of Youth League An Jianguo. Immediately after that, they delivered their comments on the Asian Games volunteering. Lin Dan said, it is a great honor for him to be an Asian Games volunteer. “Holding the credential in my hands is kinda like holding an Olympic gold medal. Anyhow, I cherish the identity. I am gonna help others and serve at the Asian Games with my practical actions.” At the same time, Xie Xingfang, who is now the Deputy Director of the Asian Games Organizing Committee Volunteers Department Recruitment Deployment Office, also felt pleased and honored to join the Hall of Fame. “To me, it is both an honor and a duty. Best wishes for the Asian Games Afterwards, Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang wrote down their best wishes for the Asian Games on the signing board. When there came the same “Wish the Guangzhou Asian Games much success”, the badminton lovers won the applause of all the viewers, as the nine Chinese characters reflected their long – time tacit understanding, and as well their resolution to render services for the Games.
Lin Dan commented it is Xie Xingfang who has helped him further understand the volunteer spirits. “She often speaks to me of the Asian Games volunteering, from which I know about her love for the job. She helps me know more about the Games volunteers. It is definitely my hope to be a volunteer myself.”
Lin Dan vows to win At yesterday’s ceremony, Lin and Xie told the audience and the reporters their dreams about the Asian Games, expressing their longing to participate in the Games. “As a National Team Member, I will give the Games my best shot and win gold medal for my country. After the Games, I wish to give my rackets to a volunteer as a present, ” Lin Said. Obviously, Lin has set the goal to win the Asian Games. When it came to Xie, her wish is to deliver best blessings to the National Team. “As the host of the Asian Games, I wish to witness on the site the National Team’s grand slam in Asian Games badminton matches.
More than 100 persons enrolled in Hall of Fame In April of 2009, the Asian Games Organizing Committee formed an Asian Games Volunteer Hall of Fame, a fictitious club comprised of famous registered Asian Games volunteers from all circles of society . With their celebrity charm, it is expected to further upgrade the Guangzhou Asian Games’ fame and impact. Reportedly, since the Guangzhou Asian Games Volunteer Hall of Fame was established, more than one hundred well – known public persons have been enrolled, Zhong Nanshan, Ding Lei, Deng Yaping, Chen Xiexia, Yi Jianlian, Xie Xingfang, Song Zuying, Wu Xiaoli, Zeng Zhiwei, Yang Qianhua, and Zhang Jinxuan included.
