The concluding volunteer recruitment in Shenzhen University attracted more than half of the school’s full-time students. On the evening of December 7, 2009 Sports Meeting of Shenzhen University opened at the ground track field, when the first batch of 17,000 Shenzhen University volunteers made a collective showing up for the first time, definitely eye – catching, at the sports meeting’s opening ceremony. Liang Daoxing, Vice Chairperson of Executive Committee and Director-general of the Executive Office for the 26th Summer Universiade, attended the ceremony and presented the volunteering flag to those volunteers.

At the march-in ceremony, 200 student volunteers stroke a pose on the stage in a form of phalanx. Wearing white T-shirts with the Universiade logo, and walking into the meeting place in a uniform pace and a youthful spiritual outlook, they won the applause of all the faculty members and schoolmates.

As was told by the person in charge with School Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), according to “An Action Program to welcome the 26th Shenzhen Summer Universiade” and “An Overall Working Plan of Volunteer Recruitment for the 26th Universiade”, together with the Executive Office and Shenzhen Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), Shenda called for all the faculty members and students to take active part in the recruitment, striving to be conscientious, high-quality volunteers for volunteering at the future Universiade.

Currently, recruitment of the first batch of Shenzhen University volunteers has concluded, in which more than 1,7000 students applied for membership, half the number of the whole school’s full-time students. After those young volunteers have registered with the Executive Office, they will be trained by stages and by types. The training work is said to start next year.
