On the afternoon of October 13, Vice President of the Executive Committee and Director-general of the Universiade Executive Office Liang Daoxing had an investigation at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, accompanied by Member of the Leading Party Group of the Executive Office and Chief of the Human Resources Department Li Chaoqi and respective chiefs of the Universiade Executive Office.

At the construction sites of the stadium and the gym being built, Liang Daoxing learned about the dynamic progress and other preparation work. The Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, which has entered fine fitment stage, is estimated to be finished by the end of this year and be test run in April next year. At the on-the-spot meeting, Mr. Liang reiterated the importance of building playing area teams and venue teams, and required relative units to implement the job.

As told, the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center has a floor area of 30.774 hectares and a building area of 322 thousand square meters. With the total investment of RMB 2 billion yuan, it is designed to contain a stadium with 20,000 seats, a gym with 13,000 seats and a natatorium with 675 seats. It also houses an athlete reception center and some commercial facilities. While working as the place for the Universiade Closing Ceremony, the Sports Center will as well host the soccer preliminaries, table tennis preliminaries, and swimming races, and serve as a training venue.
