LIANG DAOXING, chairman of the executive committee of the Shenzhen Universiade, hopes the Kazan Universiade in 2013 will be on a higher level than in Shenzhen.

Liang was speaking Friday, October 21 at the 2013 Kazan Universiade organizing committee’s briefing to the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in the Tatar capital.

“We can see that Kazan has done a lot in preparation for the Universiade,” said Liang.

Oleg Matytsin, head of the Russian Student Sports Union, told the briefing that the experience of the Shenzhen Universiade would be taken into account in preparing for the Kazan Games in 2013. Matytsin is also vice president of FISU.

“The experience of the Games in China is still fresh. We have analyzed various activities of the organizing committee. Of course we will pay attention to the experience of our colleagues from China. Especially because the Universiade in Shenzhen was really successful — this was mentioned by international federations as well as participating countries,” said Matytsin.

Liang also spoke of the legacy of the Universiade. “There are a lot of sports units that will be used for the promotion of large health and fitness events, as well as for raising a new generation of sportsmen. Apart from that, we have gained unique experience in running competitions,” he said.
