The core graphics of Shenzhen Summer Universiade are known collectively as “Happy Gathering,” consisting of four parts: man, the sky, the land, and the ocean. Ten smaller pictures are overlapped to form the letter “U”, symbolizing the vitality of youth, the magic of nature and harmony between man and nature.

Man: featuring a smiling face, symbolizing youth, happiness and joy, a happy gathering of all college and university students in the world.

Ocean: featuring starfish and sea urchin, symbolizing the breeding of new life as well as accommodation and inclusiveness.

Land: featuring unique subtropical leaves, flowers, fruits, beetles and butterflies in Shenzhen, symbolizing harmonious co-existence and continuous evolvement of living beings.

Sky: featuring clouds and the rare and adoring creature black-faced spoonbill, symbolizing hope and future.

The core graphics hail the wonderful life cycle from seeding, growth, blooming to fruition which all occurs here, and echo the Universiade slogan “Start Here”.
